Connective Tissue

Neuroscientist-turned-artist Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya filled this first solo-exhibition with murals and interactive pieces that emphasize the need for collective action throughout our world - from subatomic to society level.

About the exhibition’s theme, Phingbodhipakkiya states, “Just as a flawless pirouette requires recruitment and control of nearly every muscle group in a dancer’s body, the things we hope to achieve as a society cannot be done by individual effort alone, they require collective action.”

I contributed to Connective Tissue from definition to implementation.

Definition

  • Advised on physical proportions of each piece, their construction and material choice; so they were user-friendly and inline with Phingbodhipakkiya’s vision

  • Prototyped and designed 8 custom containers that could be fabricated in multiple within timeline and budget

  • Vetted the usability of every design to ensure museum staff and visitors could interact with the pieces as intended

Implementation

  • Developed time and cost effective fabrication solutions that resulted in visually consistent pieces

  • Fabricated a total of 43 final containers and four soft furnishings

  • Dedicated 3 weeks onsite with Phingbodhipakkiya to install the exhibition
