EDDI Online

The Spectra Electronic Design to Delivery Index (EDDI) reports the pulse of the electronic component industry. Free to users, EDDI provides data on the electronic assembly process - from PCB design to sourcing and delivery. EDDI helps electronics analysts and professionals to stay ahead of supply disruptions.

Originally conceived as a monthly PDF report emailed to users, EDDI was brought online through the Spectra portal. From the PDF report, to the UX/UI of EDDI Online, through to product launch, I oversaw the design and branding direction of Spectra and EDDI.

EDDI Online provides a series of interactive charts based on part category that show supply and demand changes over the past month alongside a brief analysis of the changes. The site was designed to be responsive and can be viewed across all device sizes.

Online experience

In testing the interaction of these charts on desktop and mobile, I found the majority of testers did not discover how to switch the graph lines on and off. With such an abysmal performance, we changed the design to the checkboxes shown here for more intuitive interaction.

Branding

We launched EDDI Online under the Spectra brand.

Spectra was meant to be a new, cutting edge data platform for industry professionals. Spectra insights were likened to looking into a crystal ball. Running with these ideas, I looked into the color landscape of our existing products, created an imagery mood board, and even looked into the significance of crystals.

The final visual direction was applied to the website and marketing materials.
